SPACE COMPOSITION
Dear Space Composition Crew
Please find attached project 1 and time table. I also agree with Karin that the idea of bringing 1 picture of the place you are from would be a great idea - please make it 12 X12 cm if possible. See you next week at 3.00pm with all your SOLID cubes. Have FUN !

LESSON 1 "SOLID" 22.09.2009
PROJECT 1 "THE CUBE"
Each student will be required to make 3 solid cubes as follows:
CUBE 1: Should be constructed using one sheet of corrugated cardboard laminated in sheets to form a 12 x 12 x 12 cm
cube. This should help the student understand properties of materials and the techniques by which they can be worked.
CUBE 2 : Should be constructed from any material chosen by the student but must measure 12 x12 x 12 cm. This should
help the student express their desire to design - master their own environment - whilst demonstrating their individuality.
CUBE 3 : Should be as cube 2 in concept. Try to use a different material and technique.
NOTES
It is the intention of the department that these cubes should be used for exhibition purpose at the end of semester and
therefore should be of exhibition quality.
If for example you opt to work in wood - consider not just a solid cube but the use of twigs, branches, sawdust, shavings -
glued or pressed.
Consider the use of textiles, metals, plastics, stone, plants, waste, food or whatever captures your imagination.
OUR INTENTION IS TO INTRODUCE STUDENTS TO THE BASIC SKILLS REQUIRED FOR ARCHITECTURAL MODEL
MAKING AND PRESENTATION SKILLS.
COMPLETE
This project must be completed in one week for presentation at beginning of the next lesson.
